There’s something magical about this time of year, and our most recent Fall/Halloween issue of Village D-Lights has just been released to capture that spirit. This issue is packed with inspiration: stunning collector displays, creative seasonal ideas, and features that highlight the fun (and a little bit of fright) that comes with building a Halloween village. From glowing jack-o’-lanterns and haunted houses to clever DIY tricks, it’s one of our most festive editions yet.
We’ve already been hearing great feedback from readers who say this issue sparked new ideas for their own villages. That’s exactly why Village D-Lights exists, to share stories, tips, and creativity that bring collectors together and keep the magic alive year after year.
And while pumpkins and ghosts are still on our minds, we’re already turning our attention to the Christmas issue. Production is well underway, and our goal is to mail it out Mid-November, right on time for the week of Thanksgiving. That means it will land in your mailbox just as you’re pulling out your holiday houses, lights, and accessories. Expect pages filled with holiday cheer, behind-the-scenes stories, and inspiration to make your Christmas village the best yet.
Here’s a little sneak peek: the upcoming issue will include a feature on the release of the new Downton Abbey movie, along with a look back at The Sound of Music as it celebrates its 60th anniversary. Both articles connect beautifully to village collecting, as they spotlight timeless settings and stories that inspire collectors all over the world.
We were also thrilled to see Village D-Lights mentioned in Tim Haney’s Blog featured on Department 56's website. His kind words about the Fall/Halloween issue mean a lot. It’s always wonderful to see how the magazine connects with collectors and sparks conversations across the hobby.
If you haven’t subscribed yet, now is the perfect time to join in. Subscribing ensures you won’t miss the Christmas issue or the exciting new features we’re planning for 2026. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just starting to build your first village, Village D-Lights is your source of inspiration, connection, and community.

I have been a collector since 1979 when my parents bought me the Steeple Church. I was hooked for 45+ years and more. I started with Snow Village and began collecting the Halloween Village when it started up. If I could I would collect all Villages but would need a real house just to store it. I am so happy to see Village D-Lights up and running. I am a forever a lover of all that Department 56 has to offer. Thanks for bringing us Village D-Lights relaunch. 😊
